We are pleased to announce a concert celebrating You’ve Changed Records’ 8th anniversary, as part of Canadian Music Week on Saturday, April 22, 2017. Taking place inside the recently refurbished Longboat Hall, inside the historic Great Hall in Toronto, this special event will feature performances from Daniel Romano, Partner, Shotgun Jimmie, Richard Laviolette, and dear friend of the label Misha Bower.
Tickets are available at Soundscapes and Rotate This, or online right here.
Be sure to ‘attend’ the event on Facebook to catch all the news in the lead-up to what is sure to be a great night!
Daniel Romano is an Ontario-based artist, poet, musician and performer of international acclaim. A genre-defying student of musical experimentation and a brilliant multi-instrumentalist, Romano is acutely well versed in the languages of melody, shape, lyric construction and song arrangement.
Apt in its title, Modern Pressure (available May 19, 2017) will surely prove to be his most explorative endeavour to date. The twelve tracks pick up where 2016’s critically celebrated Mosey left off, boldly asking, “What age is this? What blooming weight do we carry through these stolen streets?” Written in observational scrutiny beneath the overcast atmosphere of 2016, the record vigorously tackles the present-day heaviness we contain in the jotting bones of our guilty expressions. It pleads for the restoration of empathy and resonance, to fill the empty chamber once again.
The recording phase for Modern Pressure took place in a minimalistic cabin in secluded Finnsäs, Sweden over the month of August 2016 (with additional string and horn players being added at Baldwin Street Sound in Toronto, ON in October, 2016). Engineered by long-time collaborator Kenneth Meehan, the fevered pace of work lent itself to the unrestrained and undeviated nature of the songs themselves.
Pre-orders are available now in our shop, on LP, CD, or in a limited-edition bundle including an exclusive t-shirt, large poster, and oversized pin!

Here it is! The first listen/look of the long-awaited and upcoming Partner full-length.
“A comfort zone does not have to be a place. A comfort zone is whatever makes you feel at ease. It can be a person, an object, a sensation. No two comfort zones are the same. We recognize that we have had the privilege and good fortune to experience comfort in a way that unfortunately eludes many. We feel that everyone deserves to feel the relief, however fleeting, that is offered by a comfort zone. We recognize that most people spend the majority of their time outside their comfort zones, and with this song, we hope to express our belief that everyone deserves to feel comfortable and safe.
Whatever, wherever, whoever your comfort zone may be, it is our hope that you are able to access it as often as is necessary.
Love and respect,

Always ready for a good time and prepared to spread heavy vibes in our wake, You’ve Changed Records traveled to Ottawa, ON on August 17th for the Arboretum Music Festival. Deep in the Hintonburg neighbourhood, Shotgun Jimmie, Partner and Nap Eyes convened at The House Of Common in a spirit of comradery, hilarity, hi-jinks, and a spreading of knowledge. YCTV has the exclusive behind the scenes look: musical excerpts, interviews, insights, and tour stories.
This past weekend Shotgun Jimmie stopped by Toronto on his seemingly never-ending Field Of Trampolines world-tour to record a super sweet YCTV session in a garage under a blue-green Beatles ’65 poster.
Here’s “Join The Band” – join the band? Look at this! He’s doing everything all by himself, singing, drumming, strumming, shaking. Lend the guy a hand! Join The Band!
